Howling Cypress, Overgrown Rose
The essences and description of a new perfume release.
Cypress, Rose, Orange Blossom, Vetiver, Papyrus, Lily
Fragrance becomes subtle and soft at the 5-hour mark.
Walking alone in a forest of Cypress, the scent is strong and fresh: cold and wet. You recall the moment a salty wave strikes your face as you turn to escape it. Through it, there is a hint of something in the distance. It is not warm or welcoming, it exists despite you, and harshly rages in the air. It is windy all around, and at each settling, you feel a slight warmth, until it picks up again and hides the calm.
Whether through time or acceptance, everything settles, still cold, indifferent to your presence, but no longer hiding all its secrets. Is it the warmth of the sun creeping in?
The cold becomes gentler and you realize it’s wrapped you in a blanket of leaves, keeping you close but letting you discover its secrets. Spreading the leaves to give you a glimpse of a garden, you press onwards.
A silky sweet and gentle bed of flowers has taken away the Cypress forest. A meadow with the bleating sun revealing an un-kept rose garden, with other weeds and florals creeping in. The dry-down starts an hour in – it is soft, powdery, warm, woody, floral, a very gentle bouquet. You rest here until it is time to leave.
This fragrance lasts 4-5 hours, use the time of re-application as a moment of reflection and pause. Floral, but not cloying, fresh. It is an easy scent to layer and build from: it appears simple in its moments but reveals itself to be complex if you spend time with it.
